Isu Clan in Arochukwu Local Government Area of Abia State, on Saturday was agog with funfair and celebrations, when the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) candidate for Arochukwu/Ohafia Federal Constituency,Dr. Okuji Obinna Oreh and his Campaign team visited the Clan, in continuation of their campaign tour.
In his speech, at the palace of His Royal Highness,Eze Dr. Augustine Igwe, of Isu Okeke, Chief Peter Ogbuji,the Deputy Director General,Nwamara Campaign Council,lamented over the neglect meted on Isu people by previous administrations in Abia State.He accused them of seeking for their personal benefits instead of collective welfare of the people. According to him, Isu is an important clan in Abia State, whose economic fortune has dwindled in recent time.He said,some of the booming markets like Ndi Ijoma market and movement to ‘Onu mini’ have been affected by insecurity, despite the fact that, the PDP led administration in Abia State has Boundary Commission Affairs. He said the current visit by Dr.Oreh and his team is to revert the previous neglect on Isu clan. As a person who is knowledgeable in Corporate Governance,Dr Oreh will address the issue of neglect within 6months, after his election into the Federal House of Representatives.
In his speech ,Dr.Oreh expressed happiness for the love so far exhibited by the people of Isu clan and requested to be enrolled as a member of Isu Development Union,where he will pay his dues and be part of the developmental machinery of the clan.He vowed to repair and restore Isu clan’s lost glory. In his words “My divine mandate is to repair and restore the lost glory of Isu clan. The clan has potentials and good leadership, which are prerequisite for development. The Bible says the glory of the later day shall be greater than the former and I will not disappoint you by the grace of God “
In his speech, Barr Henry Uzor, Director of Finance ,Nwamara Campaign Council, who hails from Isu clan, vouched for Dr. Oreh as a person who keeps his words and has known him for decades. He volunteered to be held responsible if Dr. Oreh fails to keep his promise to the people of Isu clan.
The team also visited the palace of His Royal Highness,Eze Mortimer Kalu Ogbonnaya,the Obioha 1of Obieze Autonomous Community in Isu clan. A prominent member of the Eze’s cabinet, Chief Kalu Okereke Udo, on behalf of the cabinet, promised to give Dr.Oreh 100% bulk votes.
Dr. Oreh and his team also visited Obiene Ututu, where they were received by a mammoth crowd of supporters. The Ututu Council of Traditional Rulers and Ututu Council of Ndi Ezeogo also received and blessed Dr.Oreh. They all promised to ensure victory for Dr Oreh.
