Abia State Government Denounces False Claims Regarding Tax Collection from Commercial Transport Operators

The public is hereby advised to disregard the Fake Release claiming that collection of taxes from commercial transport operators in the State will start tomorrow, Monday, 26th of June, 2023.

The release is part of the machinations of the angry Abia opposition to mislead the public and create disaffection, hence we advise Abians to go about their normal businesses freely as the ban on illegal collection of levies is still on until action is concluded to restore normalcy

Members of the public should report anyone disobeying government directives to the office of the Special Adviser to the Governor on Internally Generated Revenue or to the appropriate authorities for swift action.

The public is also advised to seek information from reputable media stations and official government channels to avoid being misled by unpatriotic people who desire to sabotage the present Abia state government’s efforts geared towards instilling sanity in the system.

Any information regarding the lifting of ban on collection of taxes will be made public and aired on major news platforms

Signed:

Office of the Special Adviser to the Governor on Internally Generated Revenue
25-06-2023.
