President Bola Tinubu Suspends EFCC Chairman Bawa Indefinitely Amid Allegations of Office Abuse

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has taken the decision to suspend Mr. AbdulRasheed Bawa, the Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), indefinitely. The suspension comes in light of serious allegations of abuse of office against Mr. Bawa.

In order to facilitate a thorough investigation into his conduct while in office, President Tinubu has directed Mr. Bawa to immediately hand over the responsibilities of his position to the Director of Operations at the Commission. The Director of Operations will assume the role of overseeing the affairs of the Office of the Chairman of the EFCC until the investigation concludes.

This decision was made to ensure a fair and transparent process, allowing for a comprehensive examination of the allegations brought against Mr. Bawa. The President’s approval for the indefinite suspension reflects the gravity of the accusations and the importance of conducting a thorough investigation.

Further updates will be provided as the investigation progresses.
