Mbaka’s supporters disobey the ruling and drive the new chaplain away.
Most Reverend Callistus Onaga, the Catholic Bishop of Enugu Diocese, has transferred Rev. Fr. Ejike Mbaka, the Adoration Ministry Chaplaincy’s Chaplain and Spiritual Director, to a monastery.
Rev. Fr. Anthony Amadi has taken over as the chaplain of the Adoration Ministry Chaplaincy.
The new Chaplain, Fr. Amadi, was reportedly forced out of the ministry by Mbaka’s adorers, as Mbaka’s supporters are affectionately known, prompting Fr. Mbaka’s followers to protest against the decision.
Following the suspension of ministry operations, The PUNCH reported that the Catholic Diocese of Enugu has prohibited Mbaka on June 3 from speaking on political topics.
When the ministry was reopened, the Church changed it into a chaplaincy to give it a larger role and to better control excesses within the ministry.
Shortly after, Fr. Mbaka started calling Peter Obi names in the pulpit, in violation of all the requirements and guidelines established for the Chaplaincy.
Bishop Onaga issued a pastoral injunction instructing all Catholic believers, priests, sisters, and religious to stop visiting the ministry until further notice in response to the uproar that ensued.
Additionally, the Bishop urged Catholics to pray for Mbaka.
“In view of the events at the Catholic Adoration Ministry Chaplaincy Enugu, which are susceptible of weakening the Catholic faith and doctrines, and following numerous brotherly corrections and admonitions to Fr. Camillus Ejike Mbaka,
Fr. Camillus Ejike Mbaka, the Ministry Chaplain, received multiple fraternal corrections and warnings after being handed pastoral directions and rules for the Ministry Chaplaincy, which he repeatedly disregarded.
“And in keeping with my pastoral responsibilities as the Chief Shepherd, which include the duty to advance and defend the Catholic faith and morals in the Enugu Diocese, I hereby forbid all Catholics (clergy, religious, and lay faithful) from attending any religious or liturgical activities of the Catholic Adoration Ministry going forward, at least until the proper canonical process launched by the Diocese is completed.
My choice is based on the fact that some of Fr. Camillus Ejike Mbaka’s words and teachings at the Catholic Adoration Ministry are incompatible with the teachings and
