In Ondo, a boy is accused of murd£ring his grandmother

Vincent, a grandchild, is accused of murdering her 66-year-old grandmother, Florence Olaloye, at Labeta, Sabo in the Ondo West council area of Ondo State, for allegedly reprimanding him for smoking marijuana. According to sources, the grandchild who lived with her grandmother murdered her inside her room.

Her lifeless body was discovered by another grandchild living with her, identified as Pelumi, who raised the alarm after returning from an errand.

The suspect was immediately apprehended for questioning by detectives attached to the Fagun police station, and it was later revealed that the victim reprimanded him for smoking marijuana.

Pelumi, who has also been arrested by police detectives, stated in an interview that “our grandmother sent me to get snail from the market for us to cook stew.” As I was about to leave the house, my brother, Vincent, came in and said he needed to iron his clothes; I went inside and gave him the iron before leaving to get the snail.

“When I returned, my brother and grandmother were still in the room.” Grandma then asked me to get her firewood. When I returned with the firewood, I found Grandma in a pool of her own blood on the floor. My grandmother and my brother had a falling out over the fact that my brother smokes marijuana. On that fateful day, a fight broke out between them before I left the house because my brother did not complete the work assigned to him by my grandmother.”

Vincent, the suspect, also spoke out and denied killing her grandmother. Vincent claimed he left the house after his brother went to the market and returned to find his grandmother dead.

“After seeing grandma in the pool of her blood, I immediately alerted our neighbours.”

Funmi Odunlami, the spokesperson for the state police command, confirmed that the two grandchildren had been arrested and were being interrogated.
