The immediate past Governor of Abia State, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu has sent a message of congratulations to the Management and Players of Enyimba International Football Club of Aba for winning the Nigerian Super Cup and emerging the Champions of the Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL) for the 2022/2023 Soccer season.
The former Governor expressed his deepest delight at the victory and renewed his charge to them to go ahead and win the CAF Champions League for the next season. He describes the victory as a clear vindication of the huge investments made by his administration in the team over the years.
He salutes the Chairman of the Club, Chief Felix Anyansi Agwu whom he described as a great son of Abia State and an enigma in soccer management in Africa, as well as his management team for the victory.
Dr Ikpeazu is full of praises and commendation for Coach Finidi George and the players for their determination and grit, urging them to sustain the tempo, make a name for themselves and bring honor to the State. He assured the team of his continued prayers for their success in the future.
Dr. Ikpeazu describes sports, and especially football as a powerful instrument for social cohesion, noting that Abia, remains the only State in Nigeria where the State Government fully sponsors 4 Football Clubs in both the Male and Female versions of the Nigerian Football League.
