The State Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Rt. Hon.Alwell Asiforo Okere (Ph.D) has called on the PDP faithful to ignore the baseless agitations of some 15 misled young men from Ohafia LGA that stormed the Party’s Secretariat with placards calling for immediate change of leadership in the state chapter of the PDP.
Addressing hundreds of youths and women groups that paid him a solidarity visit today at the State PDP Secretariat in Umuahia, the State PDP Chairman said that the Party will continue to ensure internal democracy, promote peace and unity among members in a manner that will enable the Party and its flag bearers to recover some lost elective seats presently occupied by opposition parties in next year’s general elections.
Rt.Hon.Alwell Asiforo Okere maintained that the Party was satisfied with the ongoing political transition processes and measures put in place by the Party to win all elective political offices in the forthcoming general elections and urged the youths, women and other PDP members to remain solidly behind the PDP devoid of any side distraction by agents of the opposition parties.
Speaking earlier, leaders of a women group called “United Ukwa La Ngwa”,Mrs.Beatrice Ugochi and Mr.Amaogu Festus for a youth group called “PDP Positive Initiative” condemned the recent and unwarranted attack on the integrity, efficient and excellent performances of the State Party’s Chairman, Rt.Hon. Alwell Asiforo Okere (Ph.D) and urged the Chairman to disregard the misguided youths that were only sent to cause disaffection in the party.
The groups, however, pledged their continuous loyalty, solidarity and support for the progressive administration of Rt.Hon.Alwell Asiforo Okere that was able to participate and won all the Chairmanship and Councilorship seats in the 17 Local Government Areas elections conducted by the Abia State Independent Electoral Commission (ABSIEC) in 2020 as well as secured victory at the Aba North and South Federal Constituency bye-election conducted by the INEC in 2021.
