‘I Thought It Was Over’, Wike Says He Was Poisoned At PDP Secretariat

Nyesom Wike, the immediate past Governor of Rivers State, revealed that he experienced poisoning during his time at the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) campaign secretariat in 2018. Despite facing political opposition, he attributes his continuous victories to divine intervention.

Speaking at a family thanksgiving service held at St. Peter’s Anglican Church, Rumuepirikom Deanery in Rivers State, Wike expressed gratitude for overcoming the trying ordeal. Recalling the incident, he shared how his health deteriorated, leaving him confined to his room since that fateful Sunday in December 2018.

Referring to a state banquet held on January 1st, 2019, Wike revealed that he remained silent throughout the event and delegated his Deputy Governor to speak on his behalf. The attendees were unaware of his condition, and afterwards, he was flown out of the country at midnight, believing that his life was hanging in the balance.

Wike found himself in Beirut, Lebanon, where doctors diagnosed him with severe damage to his liver and kidney. They conducted numerous tests and initially withheld the dire news from him. However, the following day, they informed him of the severity of his condition, stating that his kidney and liver were failing. To his surprise, he discovered that he had been unknowingly poisoned during his time at the campaign secretariat, as his intestines had turned black.

Despite the grim prognosis, Wike experienced a miraculous recovery, with his failed organs regaining their functionality. Astonished, the doctors informed him that his situation had taken a positive turn. His liver and kidney began functioning again, leading to his eventual release after approximately one week.

With a deep sense of gratitude, Wike attributed his restoration to the grace of God, emphasizing that his victories were a result of divine intervention.
