Eze Aro Burial: Mazi Vincent set to be buried April 5th

Mazi Vincent Ogbonnay Okoro, the Eze Aro of Arochukwu Kingdom Burial rites date has been disclosed, the Late Arochukwu Monarch burial rites date has been scheduled to be on Monday April 5th 2021.

Mazi Vincent Ogbonnay Okoro being the Immediate past Traditional Ruler and the number one Citizen of  the Aro Kingdom and  custodian of its heritage, His Royal Majesty, Maazi Vincent Ogbonnaya Okoro,  often referred to as Eze Aro of Arochukwu, will be buried cum Monday, April 5th 2021 at his home town, oror village Arochukwu.

An official burial announcement was made on Friday 26th March 2021 during a virtual zoom meeting by the convener Eze Aro burial rites committee, Prof Okoro Ijoma and Mazi Anicho Okoro, being the chairman and secretary of Eze Aro National Rites of Passage Committee respectively, said that the burial will be a programme of one week long passage of rites for the late first class Monarch in Nigeria which will kick start on Friday, April 2nd 2021.

This official funeral announcement was made available to Aro Okegbo Blog and other journalist on Friday 26th March 2021, which read, “The Arochukwu Kingdom of Abia State in Nigeria hereby announces the passage of the Immediate past Traditional Ruler and the number one Citizen of  the Aro Kingdom and of the custodian of the Aro heritage and Eze Aro of Arochukwu, His Royal Majesty, Maazi Vincent Ogbonnaya Okoro, CFR.

“Maazi Vincent Ogbonnaya Okoro joined his ancestors and the Aro saints after a while in ‘ovia uwasi’.

“Before succeeding the former Eze Aro in the Person of Mazi Kanu Oji who is believed to be the longest monarch in the history of Nigeria who reigned for 75 years, Maazi Vincent Ogbonnaya Okoro, who was breeded and schooled in the United Kingdom as a specialist in Medical Laboratory Scientist, was among the foremost head of the Department of Medical Laboratory Technology at the famous University of Nigeria Teaching hospital, located in Enugu State, Nigeria. 

“He worked and retired as the Chief Medical Laboratory Scientist at the  famous University of Nigeria Nsuka often referred to as UNN in the year 1988 to go home and ascend the throne of the Aro Kingdom succeeding Maazi Kanu Oji.

“The Igbo market weeklong counting starts from eke, the rites of passage of His Majesty, Maazi Ogbonnaya Okoro, CFR, will commence from Friday, 2nd 2021 to Monday, 5th April, 2021.

The grand finale of the funeral rites will hold on Monday, 5th April at the Arochukwu Civic and Cultural Center, Oror, Arochukwu by 10 am.

“Maazi Vincent Ogbonnaya Okoro ascended the famous Eze Aro throne in 1995 and his reign brought so many transformation and mind blowing changes in the Kingdom of Aro and growth in inter-communal relations.

Among the positions, Maazi Vincent Ogbonnaya Okoro held, he was a first class graduate and the traditional ruler who occupied one of the ancient traditional seats in the history of Nigeria and the world at large. Maazi Vincent Ogbonnaya Okoro was the Chief custodian of the Aro heritage and tradition worldwide.

During the virtual zoom meeting by the convener of Eze Aro burial rites committee, Prof Okoro Ijoma and Mazi Anicho Okoro, being the chairman and secretary of Eze Aro National Rites of Passage Committee respectively, said that the Kingdom witnessed so many positive transformation during the reign of the late monarch on of which is completion of the long built Aro Civic Center.
