Pastor Williams Kumuyi, general superintendent of Deeper Life Bible Church, has warned ushers at his church to stop requiring women to cover their heads. He emphasises that this causes heat in the hair and causes it to exude odour.
The esteemed pastor bemoaned the fact that many Christians are turning people away from the church because they are unable to understand how to interpret the Bible.

Kumuyi made the comments during a sermon that was posted to the Ekiti State Deeper Life Church’s Facebook page, which Church Times was watching.

Someone is visiting our church for the first time, he said. She also happens to be a woman who does not cover her head. We query the subject
Before entering, we ask the visitor to cover her head. We are unsure if the individual even believes in God. Before she ever steps foot inside the church, we confront her there. We are unsure if she is unable to prophesy or pray. But she is subject to our regulations.
“I’d be curious to know what kind of church this is if I were the individual. That will be the last time I visit the church if they treat me like a young girl in elementary school.
Kumuyi argued that women should cover their heads when praying or prophesying by quoting 1Cor 11:5, which focuses on the topic of head covering for the female gender.
Additionally, he questioned why some church members would cover their heads for nearly 20 hours each day, claiming that many of them had rendered themselves unappealing through their outward look.
“There are some ladies who are not beautiful to their husbands,” Kumuyi added. Some women feel they are no longer need to present themselves well in front of their husbands because they are married. There are some unattractive single sisters.
According to Kumuyi, prolonged covering will generate “heat in the hair and it will emit odour.”
According to him, women who engage in such behaviour “place themselves in bondage since they never read the word.”
Many of the women who insist on wearing their hair covered may not even be praying in the church, he claimed. They merely assume they are safe because they are covering their heads.
“Perhaps no one will tell you if I don’t tell you. Some women no longer appeal to the man because they dress shabbily. Some independent sisters are not well-groomed. People who are seeking God’s will might not find them attractive.
Every woman who prays or prophesies, according to the Bible. You are either praying or prophesying, which is why you are covering.
