Oromoni Lagos has not yet decided whether to reopen Dowen College.
In celebration of its 25th anniversary, DOWEN College, Lekki, Lagos, which began in October 1997 with the enrollment of nine children as pioneer students, is giving itself a pat on the back for upholding its basic ideals.
The management issued the following statement yesterday: “From the modest beginning of nine students in October 1997, Dowen College Lagos has grown over the past 25 years as a school focused on cultivating children with godly virtues, a solid academic foundation, a good appreciation of their national cultures, and on the cornerstone of strong discipline.
Every child is encouraged to grow up “to be the best,” according to the school’s mission statement.
“With dual curricula in the Nigerian and British educational systems, the school had produced excellent pupils who, with the well-rounded curriculum offered, have shown their expertise and abilities both inside and outside the borders of Nigeria.
“Dowen College has prospered thanks to the steadfast support and recommendations of parents who proudly send sibling after sibling, family, and friends through the college. There are a lot of reasons why it is dubbed the Dowen College Family.
