Rt. Hon Benjamin Okezie Kalu has been officially declared as the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives. He was inaugurated into his new role by Sani Tambuwal, the clerk of the House of Assembly.
Kalu’s emergence came without opposition, as he was acclaimed as an outstanding legislator by his peers. His reputation and rapport with colleagues in the House played a significant role in his unopposed return.
Earlier in the Deputy Speakership race, Miriam Onuoha, a strong contender, voluntarily withdrew from the competition, clearing the path for Kalu. His extensive experience as a former Local Government Chairman and Commissioner in Abia State has contributed to his goodwill and respect among his colleagues.
With Benjamin Kalu assuming the position of Deputy Speaker, the House of Representatives looks forward to benefiting from his legislative expertise and leadership.
