Ogun PRP governorship candidate dies a week after he was unveiled

Ogun state Governorship candidate of the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP), Prof David Bamgbose, died a week after he was unveiled as the party’s standard bearer in the state

Recall that the Chairman of the party, Samson Ogunsanya, unveiled Bamgbose last Saturday after a meeting with leaders and stakeholders of the party in Abeokuta.

According to Daily Trust, Bamgbose died at the Lantoro Hospital, Abeokuta, after a brief illness on Friday morning.

The deceased left the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) after he stepped down for the party’s governorship candidate, Ladi Adebutu.

He explained that he dumped the PDP for PRP because of the “injustice” meted out to him.

Bamgbose’s Personal Assistant, Oduntan Olayemi, who confirmed the incident to journalists in Abeokuta, said the Professor of Educational Management complained of being tired the previous day and was taken to hospital around Olomore and later referred to Federal Medical Central (FMC), Abeokuta.

He complained of tiredness on yesterday and we decided to take him to an hospital around Olomore. We were referred to FMC for further checks

“We opted for the state hospital, Lantoro, because of the urgency and he was admitted at the emergency ward where he was administered oxygen till today (Friday).

“I got back to the hospital this morning and I met him breathing too fast and heavy. I got a call from where I went to get him some prescribed medication that he had passed on,” Olayemi narrated.
