Chief Folashade Iyabo-Ojo, the eldest child of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has appealed to Nigerians for understanding and support in her father’s efforts to improve the country. She made this plea during the Evolving Women in Politics (EWIP) Presidential Inauguration Victory dinner held in Abuja on Saturday. The event was organized to celebrate Tinubu’s victory in the election and his inauguration as the 16th President of Nigeria.
Expressing her gratitude, Tinubu-Ojo, who is also the Iyaloja-General of Nigeria, thanked Nigerian women for their support and emphasized the importance of their participation in this crucial moment. She acknowledged the commitment and dedication of the EWIP group, highlighting their patriotic efforts in investing their resources, time, and money towards the cause. She wished that their actions would be rewarded abundantly, not only for themselves but also for their future generations.
In her welcome address, Hajia Fatima Bello, the National President of EWIP, expressed the purpose of the gathering, which was to celebrate the progress achieved thus far and to honor Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu as their father and President. EWIP is a group that focuses on empowering women and promoting their active involvement in politics. Bello mentioned their successful engagement with traditional rulers, where they received positive responses to their campaign for 35 percent women inclusion. She commended Tinubu’s leadership, describing him as someone who delivers on his promises, while expressing confidence in his ability to lead the country and appoint more women in government.
Hon. Kafilat Ogbara, a member-elect of the Federal House of Representatives from Kosofe Local Government in Lagos State, delivered a keynote address. She highlighted the significance of EWIP and its role in increasing women’s participation in politics. Ogbara encouraged more women to join the group and emphasized the importance of unity and support among women, urging them to be each other’s advocates rather than rivals. She stressed that when women stand united, they can achieve anything they set their minds to.
