Candidates who qualify to apply for Express Entry Canada are eligible for the Express Entry Canada program and can create an online profile containing a range of details about themselves, including abilities, language proficiency, educational background, and job experience, among others. Candidates who have met the requirements of one or more federal economic programs that fall under Express Entry will then be classified into a group of eligible applicants. These individuals will be ranked according to their chances of financial success. The highest-ranking candidates will receive a formal invitation to apply for permanent residency.
This business method allows Canada to select the most qualified possible candidates to be successful. Success rather than choosing the next person in the queue. Candidates who do not have a valid job offer or provincial/territorial nomination must sign up to the Government of Canada’s Job Bank to be connected to relevant Canadian employers. Eligible employers must submit a Labour Market Impact Assessment via Employment and Social Development Canada for applications for permanent residency. There is no guarantee that candidates who fill out an Express Entry profile will be invited to apply for permanent residence. This will mainly be determined by their ranking and the others mentioned above (offer of employment, provincial/territorial nomination).
The Government will call successful candidates to apply for permanent residency. Will be granted within six months.
Candidates who are highly ranked within the applicant pool (based on their skills, experiences as well as job offers that are eligible and relevant nominations, if relevant) are then asked to make an application to obtain a permanent residence using the process of an ITA (Invitation to Apply) which will give applicants an entire 60 days to complete their electronic application. Electronic applications are required to be submitted via one of the following programs: Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP), Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP), Canadian Experience Class (CEC) Provincial Nominee Program (PNP). CIC will process applications swiftly, and many are scheduled to be processed within six months.
Candidates who have been accepted into Express Entry Canada but have not been accepted into the Express Entry Canada program but aren’t allowed to pursue permanent residence after a year can submit their profile again and be re-inserted into the pool if they’re still eligible to participate in the program. This will help avoid backlogs and permit faster processing and quicker turnaround times. According to CIC, the Express Entry program will allow skilled immigrants quicker and more efficient services. This program will also enable Canada’s Canadian Government to respond more quickly to the evolving economic environment in Canada and changing priorities. It will improve flexibility.
Express Entry Processing Times
After successfully filling the Express Entry Form to become eligible for the Express Entry Pool, applicants outside the country can wait until they are invited to the IITA. Whether via PNP or Express Entry, every draw will have 60 days. PNP or an Express Entry draw will come with an optimum CRS score, and those who have a CRS score higher than the one published will be invited. Suppose you have received an ITA and have been asked. In that case, there is an initial 60-day period during which you have to apply and provide all of the necessary documents for becoming permanent residents. The papers are required, and follow the steps once you have received the invitation for application, including the possibility of denial of the ITA. Check out our Canada Visa Processing Times page for 2022 to know more.
Receiving an ITA (Invitation to Apply)
Once you have filled the Express Entry Form to become eligible for the Express Entry Pool, applicants outside the country can wait until they are invited to the ITA. Whether via PNP or Express Entry, every draw will have 60 days. PNP and Express Entry will come with an optimum CRS score, and those who score a CRS score more excellent than the one published will be invited. If you have received an ITA and have been requested, there are 60 days during which you have to apply and provide all required documents to be permanent residents.
Receiving an AOR (Acknowledgement of Receipt)
When your IRCC receives your PR application, you will be issued an Acknowledgment of Receipt of an AOR. The AOR is a declaration that your file for application was created. You could also be referred to by the “AOR date,” which is when the processing commences.
Am I Eligible for Express Entry?
The decision of whether or not you can apply for the Express Entry System can be complicated; here are a few of the essential points.
As per Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC), Express Entry is the system to “manage applications for permanent residence under these federal economic immigration programs.” These economic immigration programs comprise programs like the Federal Skilled Workers Program, the Federal Skilled Trades Program, and the Canada Experience Class.
The requirements for eligibility differ based on the category you want to apply under; however, in all cases, you have to be legally admitted to Canada and have the intention to reside in a territory or province outside of Quebec. Candidates must also achieve a minimum score in the Comprehensive Ranking System. Points are awarded based on age qualifications, education, language skills, certifications, and Canadian and non-Canadian job experiences.
Here are a few of the essential specifications to be met by each of these three programs.
Federal Skilled Workers Program
As CIC says, if looking to be a permanent resident via the Federal Skilled Workers Program, you’ll have first to meet the minimum requirements of the work experience, language skills, and education.
The work experience must include at least one year of full-time or comparable part-time work in the same position in the past ten years. Additionally, the work must be of level A or B in the National Occupational Classification. The language requirements require evidence supporting Canadian Language Benchmark 7 in the form of CIC-approved test results within the two preceding years. To be eligible for education, applicants need either a Canadian secondary (high school), post-secondary diploma, certificate or degree, or an approved foreign credential and an evaluation of the certification by an approved CIC agency that proves that the degree earned is comparable to a similar Canadian accreditation.
The applicants are also assessed under Federal skilled worker scores. CIC will award points according to the following criteria:
- abilities ability to communicate in English or French
- Education
- work experience
- Age
- the absence of or lack of an employment offer that is valid and
- the applicant’s perceived ability to the lifestyle of Canada.
In addition, applicants must prove that they have the funds to sustain themselves and their families if they already legally work or hold employment offer valid from a company in Canada.
Federal Skilled Trades Program
By Citizenship and Immigration Canada, skilled workers under the Federal Skilled Trades Program must meet minimum work experience requirements and proficiency in a language.
Work experience must consist of two (2) years of full-time knowledge (or equivalent work experience in part-time) during the last five years in a trade. Candidates must also prove they’ve performed the duties required by an eligible skilled business as specified according to the National Occupation Classification (NOC) in the Major Group 72 or 72, 82, or 92 as well as Minor Groups 632 and 633.
The scores for language proficiency are not necessarily the same as those of the skilled workers’ program. The CIC Benchmark 5 for speaking and listening, Canadian Benchmark 5 for listening and speaking, Canadian Benchmark 4 for reading and writing, and Canadian Benchmark 4 for writing and reading. The CIC has approved that the results of a test of language proficiency are also required.
The applicant must also be able to provide an offer of employment for a whole year at a minimum or be certified in their trade by a Canadian Provincial or Territorial authority. Each province/territory has specific requirements for the qualifications of professions and the assessment process and certification, so knowing the process for obtaining the certificate in the region or province you want to reside in is crucial.
Canada Experience Class
To be eligible for CEC’s Canada Experience Class, CEC stipulates that you must satisfy the minimum qualifications for language proficiency and work experience standards.
The minimum work-experience requirement includes 12 months of skillful job experience (or similar part-time experience) in Canada in conjunction with the required authorization within three years preceding making an application to CEC. The work experience must meet the criteria set out in the National Occupation Classification for one of the following jobs: managerial (NOC skill level zero) and professional jobs (NOC ability type A) or technical jobs or skilled trades (NOC skills Type B). The applicant must be able to prove that their experience in the workplace includes performing the tasks specified as required by NOC.
The minimum language level is the Canadian Language Benchmark 7.7 for jobs in the NOC jobs, or the Canadian language Benchmark 5, for B positions, which is backed through a test approved by CIC.
