ASUU Strike Won’t Stop Us From Conducting JAMB Next Year – JAMB Registrar

The Joint Admission And Matriculation board has revealed that the lingering strike by the Academic staff Union of Universities ASUU that has paralyzed Universities education System will not stop them from conducting or shift Next year unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination UTME .


Prof Ishaq Oloyede the JAMB Registrar said this Lagos state on Saturday while supervising  the Mop-Up Examination held in some  centers across the country as a result of some centers alleged with Examination malpractice while some candidate are having biometric issue.


The Board disclose that they have spent over N100m on Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination UTME. The Mop-Up Examination was taken in order to make sure they produced Genuine And Accurate result.

While answering series of question pose to him by the newsman in Lagos state, he said there are a lot of reasons why Joint Admission and Matriculation board JAMB won’t shift nor Extend next year Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination UTME UTME . He said the union is not concern whether Academic staff Union of Universities ASUU is on strike or not.

Speaking in Lagos, He said All private universities are in sessions and also majority of  public universities like state universities are not on strike.

” let me name some public universities that are not on strike, Lagos state universities LASU, osun State universities Uniosun and also Kwara state universities kwasu . Majority of these universities are not under state government supervision and their salaries are been paid from the School fees and other expense paid by the students. “

” if those universities embarked on strike, they know certainly that they won’t get paid”

” Police University, Army University and Defence Academy among other Public universities are not on strike.

” Because some Federal Universities Lecturer or few state universities Lecturer are on strike and no academic taking place we should now stop next year UTME examination?, What should we do to those that are not on strike.
Among some of the  affected centres visited by Prof Oloyede is JKK house at ilupeju and WAEC office at ikeja.

However, Oloyede said only if a university cancel a whole year admission, The unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination UTME Result of All candidates Remain active until the beginning of a new Sessions.

” To cancelled A whole year UTME examination or shift is unfair to both the students and schools Even society at large. We can’t stop it because few are having issue.” He said

” I am also concerned about the lingering strike just like everyone is really pained about it. The strike Embarked on by Academic staff Union of Universities ASUU has force students out of their class room almost 5 month now. However, Each universities has a way to solve issue with those that Apply with them. He called federal Government and Academic staff Union of Universities ASUU to find solution to the strike and l let the poor students resume. He noted that Majority of affected student will engage in some vice- versa which is dangerous to this country future
