As Abians gets set to elect their Local Government Chairmen and Councillors, the People’s Democratic Party in Ohafia may have settled for Barr. Enyinnaya Orji Imo to fly its flag in the forthcoming election in the State.
Our source gathered that Barr. Imo has been making wide consultation, reaching out to many Stakeholders of the Party in Ohafia which has now paid off.
The former Chairman of the Party in Isiama Ward Ohafia had made his intention known last month when he resigned his position as required by the electoral law.
The Abia State Independent Electoral Commission (ABSIEC) had ealier announced Friday May 19th, 2023 as date for the conduct of another Local Government election in Abia State.
In a release signed by the Chairman of the Commission, Prof Mkpa Agu Mkpa, the electoral body had enjoined all Political party wishing to participate in the election to obtain their nomination forms from the commission four weeks from the date of the announcement.
The ruling party in the State, PDP has in weeks back rolled out the timetable for the conduct of the election with the purchase of Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms for Chairmen and Councilors taking place from starting from February 23rd, 2023.
All the Aspirants of the party for Chairmanship and councilorship positions had filled and returned their forms in readiness for the election while the party has now settled for their candidates in the various positions ahead of the May election.
