Deji Adeyanju, a human rights activist and convener of Concerned Nigeria, has stated that he is willing to wager $10,000 with any Obedient, supporters of Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi in Nigeria or the diaspora that Obi will finish third in February.
On Friday, Adeyanju made this statement via his verified Twitter handle.
“Willing to bet $10,000 with any Obedient in Nigeria or the diaspora that Obi will finish third in February,” he said.
“Put money where your mouth is.” Let’s find someone to deposit the funds with right away so you don’t change your mind later. “I recommend that Egbon Dele MOMODU keep the money,” he added.
The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has set February 2023 as the date for Nigeria’s presidential election.
Adeyanju previously claimed that Obidients were paid to march for Obi in Nasarawa state.
A massive crowd recently marched in support of Obi and his running mate, Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed, in the Nasarawa state capital of Lafia on a Saturday as part of mobilisation for the 2023 general elections.
The party’s state chairman, Alexander Emmanuel, stated that the one-million-man march was intended to educate the people of the state on the importance of voting for credible leaders in next year’s elections, as well as to send a message to other political parties that the Labour Party lacks structure.
Speaking about the march, Obi said it was a symbol of Nigerian youths’ unwavering commitment to rescuing the country from bad governance.
Obi praised the traders, commuters, artisans, and other Nigerians who participated in the march.
“I am sincerely encouraged by Nigerian youths’ unwavering commitment to the OBIdient movement, which is aimed at rescuing the nation from bad governance,” he said.
“The recent one million march undertaken by OBIdients in Nasarawa State is greatly appreciated by the OBIdient family.” It’s an important step toward reclaiming our country,” he added.
Adeyanju, a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain who has stated that he will not support any presidential candidate, maintained that the Nigerians who took to the streets for the march were paid.
In a tweet, Adeyanju stated, “Sorry to break your hearts guys, but Peter Obi will not win even half of an LGA in Nasarawa after yesterday’s rally.” You will be surprised to learn that 90% of those who came out to protest yesterday did so because they were paid to do so, and they will not vote for him. “Goodbye, Vawulence.”
Adeyanju has always advocated for other presidential parties to join forces against the APC and PDP.
