The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) have stated that Nnamdi Kanu remains its leader, while Chika Edoziem is the group’s director of state.
IPOB claimed this in order to dispel a story in some sections of the media that Kanu had been replaced, noting that those behind the report are acting for propaganda and blackmail.
This was said by the group’s spokesperson, Emma Powerful, in a statement headed ‘We have not changed Nnamdi Kanu as our leader – IPOB’ on Tuesday.
“We, the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), under the command and leadership of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, condemn the useless and fabricated media propaganda and blackmail from some media houses claiming that IPOB has another or acting leader replacing our indefatigable liberator and prophet Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.”
“We want everyone to remember that Mazi Chika Edoziem is the head of the IPOB Directorate of State, not the IPOB Acting Leader.” There was never a time when Emma Powerful, IPOB’s Publicity Secretary, published a statement claiming that our leader had been replaced as IPOB Acting Leader by Mazi Chika Edoziem. The aforementioned remark was the work of malicious elements intent on sowing uncertainty in IPOB.”
According to the statement, some persons misconstrued the notion that Edoziem will be directing IPOB as Head of DOS.
while Kanu is still detained by the Department of State Services (DSS).
“It is sad that some wicked elements misconstrued a clear statement by IPOB where we stated that in the period that our Leader is detained, the Head of DOS, Mazi Edoziem, will be providing direction on the day-to-day activities of IPOB,” it continued. We never claimed that Edoziem had taken over as acting leader of IPOB.
“To clear the air, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu remains the Leader of IPOB.” The entire IPOB family throughout the world supports him. There is no Acting Leader of IPOB. Chika Edoziem is the Head of the IPOB DOS, not the Leader.
“As a result, we advise our family members, supporters, friends, and members of the public to disregard the deceptive and malicious media claim.”
