In Ogun State, an armed assault was carried out on a Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), resulting in the tragic loss of a pastor’s life and the abduction of multiple worshippers.
The incident occurred over the weekend at the church’s premises in Abule-Ori, which is situated within the Obafemi Owode Local Government Area.
Soji Ganzallo, the commander of the Ogun State So-Safe Corps, officially confirmed the occurrence of the attack.
According to Ganzallo, his officers promptly intervened and successfully rescued the seven church members who had been kidnapped. During the operation, one of the attackers was neutralized.
Ganzallo elaborated that the So-Safe Corps’ special operations team acted swiftly upon receiving a distress call. The call reported that assailants had targeted members of the RCCG’s Desires of Nations Parish during a vigil, resulting in the abduction of seven individuals and the tragic murder of the pastor.
The commander expressed satisfaction with the Corps’ rapid response, as it led to a positive outcome. All seven kidnapped individuals were safely rescued, and a confrontation ensued that resulted in the demise of one of the kidnappers. Several others sustained injuries during the exchange of fire.
Both the police and the So-Safe Corps have launched a comprehensive manhunt to apprehend the kidnappers who managed to escape.
Ganzallo further mentioned that the deceased kidnapper’s body had been transferred to a local morgue for further examination and investigation.
